More and more families today are exploring ways to have fun from home, while getting healthy. For some, swimming is the perfect solution. While a gorgeous in ground swimming pool is a fantastic choice, homeowners on a budget or those who live in confined spaces are typically out of luck. Finally, there’s a practical alternative to a costly in ground swimming pool at home.
With exciting features that appeal to mom, dad and the kids, here’s how a swim spa can benefit your family.
Swim, Play and Relax in One Machine
The kids love to splash in the water on warm days, but mom loves relaxing hydrotherapy that comes from lounging in a swirling spa. Good news! The modern swim spa can deliver both! An adjustable current offers swimming and wave play at one end, while powerful jets push streams of massaging water around in the other end. The best models even have dual temperature settings for a cool swim and a hot, relaxing experience, all from one incredible machine.
Aquatic Exercise for Overall Health
While the gym and traditional fitness centers offer a wide range of amenities to help you stay fit and trim, a swim spa packs the same benefits in one convenient, easy to use at home gym. Water is naturally buoyant, meaning strength building exercises that you do in the water deliver an extra punch from natural resistance. And, with water to support and cushion the body, exercise of any sort is safer and easier on the joints. Build muscle, shape and tone the legs and arms, and strengthen your cardiovascular system too with a few minutes a day in the swim spa.
Family Time Made Easy
The typical swim spa can be placed indoors or out, giving your family year round access to fun and entertainment. Grab some inner tubes and turn the adjustable current up high for an exciting time in the waves, turn it down low for younger children just starting out or play some fun water games together. Relax with a teen in the hot tub side of your swim spa and let customized massage create the perfect environment to share stories, laugh and catch up.
So Go Ahead, Take a Swim, You Deserve It!
It’s, fast, fun and relaxing. Not only that, it’s good for the body, soothes the mind and can improve your overall health and well-being.
To encourage local residents to check out the benefits of using a swim spa to help improve their overall health and well-being, The Spa and Sauna Company is providing free swim spa test soaks at all their showrooms. We do recommend, however, that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute test call us ahead of time to reserve their spot.

Optimizing health with deep, peaceful sleep begins and ends with the right lifestyle choices. A dip in the family hot tub along with a few commonsense strategies can promote sleep, making it easier to look and feel your best. Ready to get a good night’s rest by lounging in the spa?
Here’s how hot tub hydrotherapy can lead to improved sleep.
The Role of Sleep in Health and Wellness
We’ve been told for centuries how important sleep is for health, but why? Mostly because the body works to repair itself as we rest, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the skin and other organs. Unfortunately, not everyone sleeps soundly, and over time, inadequate sleep can lead to decreased productivity, weight gain, and even heart problems. The good news is, restful sleep on a regular basis is one of the best things you can do for optimal health.
Hot Tub Hydrotherapy
The family hot tub is more than a fun meeting place to share laughs and conversations with friends. In fact, it’s an amazing tool for promoting a deep, revitalizing sleep. It has a lot to do with relaxation and how just a quick soak eases stress and relaxes the entire body. But it also prepares the body for a quick transition from awake to sleep. High heat raises core body temperature, but the quick decrease when you get out triggers the brain that sleep is near. Twenty minutes before bed is all it takes to promote a great night’s rest.
A Hot Tub for Health
Sleeping better is only one of the amazing benefits from regular hot tub use. Spending a few relaxing moments in the spa can also ease a variety of aches and pains, reduce arthritis and chronic back pain symptoms, ease stress and even strengthen relationships. So much good can come form a dip in the spa, it’s easy to see why so many people have chosen to make an at home hot tub part of a healthy lifestyle.

Let’s take a look at how having a hot tub impacts the value of your home. Hot tubs can be an investment for your property and can fit almost any budget. Hot tubs can be purchased for anywhere from $3,000 to $20,000.
But like any part of your home, how you care for it determines if it will have a positive effect on your home’s value, should you decide to sell it.
Hot Tubs at Permanent Residences
Portable hot tubs can be moved and for that reason may be considered personal property that can be taken with the homeowner when they leave the property. However, some homeowners decide to include their hot tub with the sale of their home.
Local Realtor Jim Forbus, of KRCH Realty in Reno, said about a quarter of the homes he sells have hot tubs that are sold with the house.
“A hot tub or spa, over a pool, is much more desirable,” he said, because you can use it daily and almost any time of the year.
He also has a hot tub at his own home.
Hot Tubs at Vacation Homes
Hot tubs are also very desirable at vacation destinations, which make up a large portion of the areas we serve, including Lake Tahoe and Santa Cruz.
Vacation homes with hot tubs are much more likely to be rented than those without, making a hot tub a worthwhile investment. In those cases, hot tubs certainly increase property or rental value.
Added Value
Here at The Spa and Sauna Company, we commonly work with realtors and homeowners who purchase a hot tub to feature at a property to add value.
Recently, we had a customer come in to purchase a used Hot Spring Spa for their Graeagle property.
He had a deck which had a hole in it, because he had removed a hot tub from it.
Upon trying to sell the home, a few potential buyers remarked that the deck would be great, if it had a hot tub in it. He came in and bought one, and not long after, the property sold.
Maintenance
Like anything, how you care for a hot tub will determine if it adds value when you sell the property and hot tub.
Forbus said he recently worked with someone who had a hot tub that not well maintained and decided to remove it before listing the property.
Even so, with the popularity of hot tubs, having the wiring available for a hot tub hook up can be a selling bonus too.
“It it’s nice, I definitely feature it,” he said, of hot tubs that come with homes he sells.
To wrap up, hot tubs can be a definite bonus when living in or selling a home. And should you need assistance with hot tub cleaning and routine maintenance, click here for more info. We’re happy to help.

Anytime you want a hot tub is the best time to buy a hot tub, but as far as deals go, May (and most of the summer) is the very best time to buy. Let us tell you why!
Sales
At The Spa and Sauna Company, the most sales from the most manufacturers are available in May, July and September.
That is because our manufacturers have studied the industry trends and noticed May is when most people like to buy hot tubs.
As a result, you can frequently find an Added Value Package Sale, a Rebate Sale, or a Showroom Sale in May at any of our 5 locations.
There are also frequent sales throughout the summer, through Labor Day.
Landscaping Season
Why May, you might ask? Well, it comes down to the weather, at least in Nevada and California, where we have 5 showrooms for all of your hot tub needs. As the weather heats up, and people start thinking about backyard landscaping, hot tubs typically come to mind as well.
A lot of people associate hot tub fun with cold weather, but hot tubs are enjoyable year-round. Planning now means your hot tub will be ready and in your backyard by the time the cold fall and winter weather arrive, and most likely it will be there much sooner.
Environment
Being in a high-desert, at least in Nevada, means you can expect cool mornings, warm days and cool nights. It’s the perfect time to enjoy grilling and then a soak in your hot tub as the weather cools down.
Many hot tubs also have a feature where you can make the water cool too, if you want to take your soak during the daytime.
New Hot Tub Models
By May, the new hot tub models for the year are available. If one of those interests you, it is the perfect time to buy it.
But, if having the newest model isn’t an incentive for you, you can also get great close-out specials on the previous year’s models that are still in the showroom. And you might be able to get them at a discount and into your backyard sooner, because you don’t have to wait for them to be ordered.
As we approach our big sale season, we hope a hot tub will come in to your mind and we can help you get the perfect hot tub for you into your backyard.
